Dennis Barber

A birthday surprise for Biggles, sorry I mean Dennis Barber our President  who is 100 years young this year.  The only thing missing is the leather flying helmet and goggles and the Biggles white silk scarf!  Good on yer Dennis.

Another day out for Dennis was a VIP guest of the Fareham Mayor at the Lee on the Solent D.Day  commemorations. He was one of three veterans and was treated quite royally. He also made friends with a RAF Wing Commander!  Rumour has it Dennis was telling the Mayor his chain of office was bigger than hers.

Well done to Clive Armitt who was daft enough to want to abseil down the Spinnaker tower in Portsmouth, in an effort to raise some funds for the club. The tower we understand is about 140 metres.  In old money that's just over 153 yards or 460 feet either way its still a long way down.  At least he had some good weather and would get a good view over the Solent.  Rumour has it he is going to try the SAS selection!

Club Refurbishment

This is our gallery of pictures noting the journey to transfer our Clubhouse from a post war converted prefab to one of the best bowls clubhouse’s in the area. A Monger’s, the chosen contractor, started work towards the end of November 2018 and finished four weeks ahead of schedule in mid March 2019.

This enabled our team of Club members to set to work on the internal decorating and finishing required to have our building ready for the start of the 2019 bowls season. A great effort by all concerned.

So, if you have viewed the pictures and are reading this note hopefully it has inspired you to visit the Club and give bowls a try. You will be warmly welcomed.
